Public Bus

The new international airport for Medan, Kualanamo, was opened on July 24^th , 2013. Unlike the now closed Polonia airport, which was in central Medan, the new airport is located around 30km beyond Medan .

The simplest public transport transportation is to take the bus from the airport to Binjai, a city sited between Medan and Bukit Lawang. The fare from the airport to Binjai is IDR.80.000 - 100.000/person by ALS  (Antar Lintas Sumatera) bus.

Arrival at Binjai Bus Station near by a Train Station, and than you have to take a "Becak" MotorBike Taxi to bus station public bus of Bukit Lawang.
Just Said to Becak Drive ---- Go to TANAH LAPANG BINJAI !!

From Tanah Lapang Biinjai take a second minibus to Bukit Lawang, The Public buses run till around 18.30pm here,

Warning !!!!! : Overchanging on the bus from binjai is amost universal, Touts at the bus station try to tell you to pay before boarding, and that the cost is Rp.150.000 up till Rp.200.000 or even more. The fact is the fare not more than Rp.80.000/Pax. and you pay only when you reach to Bukit Lawang.
